Frank Sherry is the author of both non-fiction and fiction books. His non-fiction works include "Pacific Passions", the enthralling story of the European discovery and exploration of the Pacific Ocean and "Raiders and Rebels"Âa rousing account of 18th Century piracy and a major selection of the History Book Club. Frank has also published eight novels: "The Devil's Captain" "Eternity Falls", "TalarÂThe Quest for Shadowcaster, "The Pucka-man's Odyssey", "Mysteriad," "Lust, Loathing, Lunacy," "Arkadia," and "In the Gardens of the Enchanter." Before deciding to devote all his time to writing, Frank was journalist, political consultant, pollster, public relations executive and video producer. He has also been a tireless traveler, sailor, scuba diver, and mountain trekkerÂ with a special fondness for what he calls "wild, bleak places". As a young news reporter, Frank won several prestigious awards for his coverage of the civil rights struggles of the 1960's and 1970's. Among the major events he wrote about in those years were the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the "March on Washington" immortalized by Dr. Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech. Frank was also one of the first journalists to interview Malcolm X. Following his journalism career, Frank served as a consultant in a number of political campaigns. During his years as a public relations executive he was most interested in the production of videos for major sports clients such as the New Jersey Sports Authority (The Meadowlands) and Monmouth Park Racetrack. His work in the field won a number of awards.In addition to his writing, Frank often spoke on journalism and history. He has been a guest-lecturer at the University of New Mexico and elsewhere. He has also made guest appearances on many radio and television programs, including NBC's "Today Show" and PBS. As might be expected, he was a devotee of sailing, especially when it could be combined with scuba diving in tropical waters. But he says that, for all his love of the sea, he was equally enamored of "mountains, deserts, and untamed places". In pursuit of adventure in such untamed places he has climbed and backpacked in the Himalayas, the Rockies, the Salmon River country of Idaho, and the high desert of New Mexico. Frank and his wife, Su, author of "My Three Lost Girls", reside in Sparks, Nevada. They have a son, Stephen, and a daughter, Diana, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
